NGO launches journalism clinic

NGO, Media for Development Centre has bemoaned the low level of media coverage on environmental issues.

The centre is worried that issues such as sanitation, pollution, forest degradation and climate change among others receive very little media attention.

It has launched a Journalism Clinic to equip interested journalists with the skills on environmental reporting.

The executive director, Okunyin Orlan-Hackman said the journalism profession can be enhanced through specialization and issues-based reporting.

“It is important that as citizens, we pay attention to the mandate given us by the nation’s supreme law; our constitution obliges us to protect the territorial integrity and in our view this includes our environment and natural resources,” he said

He called upon the youth with new ideas and the technical know-how to come on board and requested financial support from government and all stakeholders.
